In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.001

PICKTHAL: By those who drag forth to destruction,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.002

PICKTHAL: By the meteors rushing,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.003

PICKTHAL: By the lone stars floating,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.004

PICKTHAL: By the angels hastening,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.005

PICKTHAL: And those who govern the event,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.006

PICKTHAL: On the day when the first trump resoundeth.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.007

PICKTHAL: And the second followeth it,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.008

PICKTHAL: On that day hearts beat painfully

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.009

PICKTHAL: While eyes are downcast

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.010

PICKTHAL: (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first
state

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.011

PICKTHAL: Even after we are crumbled bones?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.012

PICKTHAL: They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.013

PICKTHAL: Surely it will need but one shout,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.014

PICKTHAL: And lo! they will be awakened.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.015

PICKTHAL: Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.016

PICKTHAL: How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.017

PICKTHAL: (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled -

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.018

PICKTHAL: And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.019

PICKTHAL: Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.020

PICKTHAL: And he showed him the tremendous token.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.021

PICKTHAL: But he denied and disobeyed,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.022

PICKTHAL: Then turned he away in haste,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.023

PICKTHAL: Then gathered he and summoned

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.024

PICKTHAL: And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.025

PICKTHAL: So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after
(life) and for the former.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.026

PICKTHAL: Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.027

PICKTHAL: Are ye the harder to create, or is the heaven that He built?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.028

PICKTHAL: He raised the height thereof and ordered it;

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.029

PICKTHAL: And He made dark the night thereof, and He brought forth the morn
thereof.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.030

PICKTHAL: And after that He spread the earth,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.031

PICKTHAL: And produced therefrom the water thereof and the pasture thereof,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.032

PICKTHAL: And He made fast the hills,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.033

PICKTHAL: A provision for you and for your cattle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.034

PICKTHAL: But when the great disaster cometh,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.035

PICKTHAL: The day when man will call to mind his (whole) endeavour,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.036

PICKTHAL: And hell will stand forth visible to him who seeth,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.037

PICKTHAL: Then, as for him who rebelled

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.038

PICKTHAL: And chose the life of the world,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.039

PICKTHAL: Lo! hell will be his home.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.040

PICKTHAL: But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained
his soul from lust,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.041

PICKTHAL: Lo! the Garden will be his home.

SHAKIR: Then surely the garden-- that is the abode.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.042

PICKTHAL: They ask thee of the Hour: when will it come to port?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.043

PICKTHAL: Why (ask they)? What hast thou to tell thereof?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.044

PICKTHAL: Unto thy Lord belongeth (knowledge of) the term thereof.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.045

PICKTHAL: Thou art but a warner unto him who feareth it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

079.046

PICKTHAL: On the day when they behold it, it will be as if they had but
tarried for an evening or the morn thereof.
